​​​​​​​​​​Monto State High School offers a range of student support services.


School Based Health Nurse:

Mrs Anita Salisbury is our School Based Youth Health Nurse (SBYHN).  SBYHN's work with young people, school staff, parents and other community members to promote health and wellbeing in a supportive school environment.

They provide:

  • ​ A confidential health service. 
  •  Health information to students, teachers and the school community. 
  • Intervention and links to other services as required.

SBYHNs are not employed to administer medications, deliver health procedures or provide routine first aid. Queensland state schools offer these services via other staff members.

​Guidance Officer:

Mrs Danielle Sinclair is our Guidance Officer.

Guidance Officers play a vital role in supporting the well-being, academic progress, and personal development of students within a school. They provide counselling and support to students facing challenges such as mental health issues, family difficulties, or social and emotional concerns. Guidance Officers also assist students with career planning, subject selection, and pathways to further education or employment. They work closely with teachers, parents, and external agencies to develop strategies and interventions that promote positive outcomes for students. Additionally, they contribute to creating an inclusive and supportive school environment by advocating for students with diverse needs and ensuring equitable access to resources and opportunities. Their work is essential in fostering a safe and nurturing space where all students can thrive.

Student Wellbeing Professional – Social Worker:

A student Wellbeing Professional – Social Worker provides specialised support to address the social, emotional, and behavioural needs of students. Social Workers collaborate with students, families, school staff, and external agencies to identify and address barriers to learning, such as mental health challenges, family issues, or social difficulties. They provide counselling, case management, and advocacy to promote student well-being and ensure equitable access to education. By fostering resilience and positive relationships, Social Workers play a key role in creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive school environment where all students can thrive.

 

School Chaplain:

Mrs Karina Hotz is our School Chaplain.

A school Chaplain provides social, emotional, and spiritual support to students, staff, and families. Chaplains contribute to the school community through pastoral care, mentoring, and running programs that promote well-being, resilience, and positive values. Their role is non-religious in nature and inclusive, respecting the diverse cultural and spiritual beliefs of the school community. School Chaplains work collaboratively with other school staff to enhance the overall well-being and connectedness of the school.
